    1820s Capital Stock Certificate Rome New York Turnpike Company Plank Road Oneida
    This is another rare one....and it is un-issued!  This company was incorporated in 1819, and during the 1820s, sold these stocks to fund their plan to build a wooden plank turnpike road through Rome in Oneida County NY.  They finally began construction in 1846, and after 15 years of popular use the road dissappeared just as quickly as it was built, as it proved to be very costly to maintain.  By 1878 there were only a few miles of the turnpike left.
