The marks inside the box show how books fit into the box and how many it held.
American Book Company
was formed in
1890
by the consolidation of four companies. It was acquired by Litton Industries in 1967 sold to the International Thomson Organization in 1981. It is now defunct, which makes this box particularly desirable.
