    Description

    Up for sale is an incredible piece of armor. This is a piece of I believe chest armor. This is called Tatami or folding armor. This has a family crest of the Todo Clan on the top there. Made of leather hexagons sewn together. Backed by what looks like horse hair or something and cloth. You can see where these pieces are sewn together as shown. This is pretty rare as most pieces I've seen have been completely destroyed. There is a rip in the leather as shown. 22" from top to bottom, so I think this was for a much shorter warrior. Probably 5'0 or so. Incredibly piece of history. Wikipedia says Tatami armor was used for hundreds of years but I think this dates to the late 1700s or so.
