Bison Horn Core Half Skull Cap Historic

Description

Historic American bison horn core half skull cap. Large, heavy partial bison skull with horn core measures 14 inches, the full skull would have had a horn span of  28 inches. This piece came from a bison that would have died 100's to 1000's of years ago on the Great Plains of South Dakota and was recovered from a waterway in 2021. This area was home to many native tribes throughout the ages, most recently the Lakota Santee. It's not difficult to imagine that this bison may have been a part of their circle of life.
This piece has been sealed with an acrylic stabilizing product.
