Description
Great tan colors on this chunk of a large bone. Likely Mammoth, Mastodon, or Giant Ground Sloth, since these were the common animals with large enough bones for this fossil to come from. This nice piece measures just about 5” X 3” X 1 1/2”. No RestorationsAll my fossils are personal finds from west central Florida. This leg bone piece was found in Northeast Manatee Country.
This fossil is between 3 and 10 Million years old.

What is Bone Valley?
Bone Valley is a geologic formation in west central Florida. More specifically, the upper layer of the Peace River formation. Fossils from this area are well known for their unique tan-brown colors and are often very well preserved due to sediment they are encased in. Not all fossils from Bone Valley are tan-brown. I’ve found a variety of colors including pure white, black, grey, tan , brown, and some with blue hues.
