Disney Pride Lines Mickey And Santa Handcar With White Santa Suit.
Well folks, I seem to have found one of those really rare items again.
Disney Pride Lines originally Commissioned Lionel to make these back in 1936, the originals were clockwork (wind-up) trains and hand cars and had several different models, incorporating different characters for the entire line. Fast forward to 1984 and Disney decided to have Lionel do it again, but this time they revamped the original clockwork models to electric to run on any O or O27 3-rail track.
When I first saw this Mickey And Santa Handcar, I thought to myself, "did someone paint it?". Well, the answer to that is a resounding NO! While the majority of these cars, the Santa figure wore his classic Red Suit and the tree was usually green, but Disney and Lionel decided to do a very limited run of Santa in this Cream color Suit and made the tree silver (aluminum tree color). But that's not all, the original hancar was red, not here though, this car is a very shiny gold. Now as far as Mickey goes, he is just hanging out of Santa's Toy Sack, and as you can see in the pictures, he looks GREAT!
What surprised me the most though is when I tested it, while 99% of the Handcars I've seen do run, they almost all need a wheel adjustment, as the gears come out of alignment (simple fix), this is very common, and I would say that most of them should be adjusted on an annual basis. This car runs perfectly with 0 issues.
