Extremely Rare Pleistocene Fossil Horse Toes and Hoof Core. Fossil Hooves are incredibly rare due to the high likelihood of predation or decay. These fossils were found during construction in Sarasota, Florida. All three are found together, meaning they were highly likely from the same animal. What makes these even rarer are the unfused joints on the proximal phalanges, signifying this was a juvenile individual. There are 2 Proximal phalanges and one Distal phalange included in a Riker display. There are minor nicks in all three bones, some pieces glued back on. No restorations to the very minor repairs. These fossils are highly mineralized but still fragile, will be wrapped well and shipped in the Riker case.

Hoof: 1 3/4" Long X 2" Wide X 1 1/4" Thick
