You are bidding on a hand turned AFZELIA BURL BOWL that I have signed and dated on the foot. The bowl is a nice size with a

Afzelia is an incredible species with vivid colors and figure. This native African timber typically has a reddish brown mix of colors. This is the largest piece of Afzelia Burl that I have ever had. Normally pieces this size are
prohibitively
expensive making a bowl of this size unaffordable.
This is NOT a food safe item!  However, this item is suitable for decorative or DRY use.  It could be used as a fruit bowl for items like bananas, apples, oranges or any other item that you would typically peel or wash before eating.  The item has been sanded to 600 grit, then coated with a Shellac and Carnauba Wax based water-resistant finish. Finally, the item is the buffed using a 3 step process. The first buffing is done using Tripoli to remove any fine scratches or tool marks, then White Diamond to start to bring out the shine, and then buffed with pure Carnauba wax which not only protects the item but also provides a deep gloss finish.

I have been a woodworker for over 20 years, making everything from complete custom cabinetry, to bowls, boxes, and pens on the lathe.  However, due to health issues, I now only turn projects on the lathe in order to give myself something to do for the few hours a day I can stand. Since I do not need to "make a living" at this, I can offer the same product, made with great precision, and generally offer it to you for a much lower price.

The insurance will allow the item to be tracked all of the way to delivery. The standard USPS Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Box does not track the item once it leaves the United States, so it is imperative that the insurance is purchased.
