This Natural Asian inspired wooden Tea Box, stands 9 3/4TALL and 5" Wide.  Constructed of Maple Burl w/natural edge and a Branch Handle.
"In the early 80s, Don Stinson made a living turning and making furniture, expressing himself creatively by hand crafting wooden bowls and burls in a hundred year old horse stable. Since then, the bowls and burls have taken centre stage, and the business has grown in size and gained international recognition. What was once a one-man show has evolved into a two-generation family business that shines internationally while still keeping true to the heart and roots of the business.
Their success lies in striving for continual balance, a balance mirrored in the different aesthetics and skill sets brought by Don and his sons, Jesse and Spike Stinson. Both could be found in the shop, working by their dad’s side as far back as they can remember. Jesse joined him as a partner in 2007, and Spike several years later. They seem to have found an ideal symmetry of business vs. creation, of showcasing an unparalleled artistic eye, yet highlighting the natural beauty of the wood.
Even with the growing popularity and demand for their product, and the high profile showcasing in many homes and businesses, Don, Jesse and Spike still feel the most important aspect of their art is capturing the natural world they live and work in; the world that they truly love. They strive with every piece they create to bring a part of this world to the people who receive their work, no matter if they live in bustling cities half way around the globe, or in the little house next door.
    CARE:
Caring for your Stinson piece is easy. Excluding burls, all pieces can be washed with soapy water – you can even put it right in your sink if it will fit! But please don’t let the items soak, and definitely don’t put them in the dishwasher. Once they have been wiped or rinsed clean, allow them to dry fully.
Depending on how often you use them, we suggest you re-oil them with our
Wooden Bowl & Board Oil & Wax
    , using a clean cloth. T
he oil keeps wood nicely moisturized to prevent cracking, warping or staining from acidic food.
As you get to know your piece, you will know when it needs oiling by feel and colour – it may appear to fade as it dries out, but the colour will be reinvigorated with the oil application.
The wax seals the oil in and adds a more durable barrier for a long-lasting and healthy food service finish.
A natural, plant-based alternative to food grade mineral oil (derived from petroleum) that will never go rancid. The product is specifically designed to protect the wood from absorbing unwanted liquids which can cause warping or cracking of the wood.
If using a particularly acidic or darkly coloured dressing or food on the wood, we recommend first applying a thin layer of oil to help prevent staining, especially if the food will be sitting for a long time. However, if you do find discoloration of the wood, it is completely normal and in fact, adds personality to your piece.
