    Description

Very Rare Rancho La Brea Tar Pit Fossil Dire Wolf Upper Molar, Perfet Condition
The Rancho La Brea Wilshire Hauser Tar Pit, where this Dire Wolf Tooth is from, is only a few blocks from the George C. Page La Brea Tar Pit Museum. During construction in the 1970's, a tar seep was found across the street from the famous La Brea Tar Pits and the public was welcome to go through and remove fossils if they were willing to put up with the sticky mess. It is unknown how many fossils were removed but, in all likelihood, it was only a few hundred and most that were found are now probably lost due to collector and heir carelessness.
    The specimens being offered
were personally collected in the Wilshire Hauser Pit.  Even though there are tens of thousands of tar pit specimens in the George C. Page museum's collection; that's where they will stay; hidden away from the public for all time. If you want to acquire a fossil from one of the most famous locations in the world, this is the one rare, and legal, opportunity to do so.
