Rare Vintage Japanese KENDO Fighting MASK SAMURAI FOIL FACE ARMOUR STEAMPUNK SCU

For sale is an amazing heavy, old Kendo martial arts face mask with a
steel grid to protect ones face from wood poles and other weapons. We are selling the mask in “as found” condition as we purchased this beautiful, rare and unusual piece at an Estate Sale where there were quite a few Japanese antiquities and were advised at the time of purchase that it was a Japanese Kendo Fighting Mask most likely circa 1930s. The mask is made of what appears to be heavy, twisted steel/iron wire and measures approximately 14-1/4” in height and 9” across and is in great indestructible Vintage condition with some light oxidation and surface wear due to its age and usage. Please note that there is no leather headboard padding or chest shield, but it could be replaced or designed and crafted from either leather or canvas to enhance the piece. This mask could also be used as a prop or costume with the appropriate padding as it is much like the ones worn in Marvel’s Wolverine film as well as by Hannibal Lecter so However, as this Kendo mask is quite heavy, we think it would look amazing prominently displayed on a stand as a Metal Art Sculpture.
