    Description

    Hi all!
This Is a Beautiful Incisor tooth from Mesodma, a rare dinosaur age Multituberculate Mammal from the Hell Creek Formation in Montana, USA! These small mammals, which superficially resembled rodents lived along side the dinosaurs and would eventually survive the mass extinction 65 million years ago. Multituberculates are an ancient extinct order of Mammals named for the many tubercles on their teeth (the little bumps on the crown of the tooth). They first appeared nearly 175 million years ago in the middle Jurassic before dying out at the end of the Eocene about 34 million years ago. Despite being known for giant dinosaurs like Triceratops and T-rex, the Mesodma of the Hell Creek formation would rarely exceed an ounce in weight while alive. The tooth has Fantastic enamel, a partial root, and zero repair or restoration! It measures .24 inches (6 mm) and comes in a 1 inch gem jar for easy transport and display!
Cretaceous Mammal fossils are, in general, exceptionally rare despite their resemblance to common modern rodents. Teeth as complete as this one are rarer still! Making this a great opportunity to own a unique piece of mammal evolution and paleontology!
