Vintage Jeff Nelson Hudson River Inlay Wood Marquetry Art Piece “Sailing Boat”

This spectacular piece of wood art using marquetry, or inlaying different types of wood to make a picture or image in furniture, designed by Jeff Nelson featuring inlaid wood from different areas of the world measures 6” by 9” for the image in a frame that measures 9 ¾” by 12 5/8”. It weighs 1 pound, 7 ounces. It has a hook on the back for mounting on a wall. It is in fine condition (see photos). (2537-HC)
Jeff Nelson first sketches out the picture that he wants to put together in wood, then he gathers different wood samples from areas around the world that have varying colors and textures to complete the picture. The veneers of wood are precision cut to fit and then finished by hand. This picture frame is oak stained in cherry, the sky is walnut, the seagulls maple, the water is Koa from Hawaii, the hills is Primavera from Costa Rica, the crew are Madrone from Northern California.
