Native American or American Indian, Late 1600’s thru early 1800’s trade beads & “Quahog” hard shells, hand strung together to make a Breast Plate & necklace. This is extremely old! Some beads are 200 years old, others 300+ older!!! Trade beads are historically tied to Native Americans since Christopher Columbus arrived here in America. This astonishing breast plate is made of mostly “Cornaline d’Aleppo” beads. There are also “Quahog” shells & beads, pony beads, crow beads, padre beads, possibly bohemian and/or murano beads, some bone beads & a few pieces of Antler.
    ⭐️
These are historical beads & survived a few centuries, most beads pre 1800’s haven’t survived, for many reasons due to change in civilization, migration of Native Americans & war. This would be for display & collection. I don’t suggest actually wearing this for the fiber that has this strung is still strong but the beads and shells will last a further few hundred years.
    ⭐️
The bottom of the breastplate has a center shell that has been hand etched and partially worn down, see pictures 4 & 5. Last picture shows at 6 o’clock, there are a couple of shells, I presume, missing. There is the original thread attached about an inch long. Directly across at about 3 o’clock you can see the shells in the same place as the other side, in tact.
There’s quite a mix of historical beads here, and the history behind this will just let anyone’s imagination run wild with ideas & scenarios of its original owner, the foreign people whom traded the Native American for the beads, how they lived, their civilization, etc. Here is a link of more accurate studied information on these beads...

Just copy and paste this in your web browser, unfortunately eBay won’t let me highlight this link unless I have a top tier membership. Read all the information and you’ll be astonished at how much you never knew about historical beads & how many came here to the Native people of the America’s.
Thanks for looking at this listing, it’s the only historical & true museum quality “necklace” I have and probably listed on eBay!
    • there are various beads, extremely old, both hand carved and factory (1700’s) crafted
    • there are shells & bones, presumably from East Coast Native Americans & their surroundings
    • not a single beads is perfect! Every beads is genuinely perfectly “imperfect”!
    • Sold as shown, purchased and used for film/photo production and stored safely, any accessories shown including mannequin & dress not included, pictorials for fashion inspiration
    • pictures 6 is the dress layered on one of my dresses, picture 7 is a depiction of the Lewis & Clark expedition of the 1800’s. This is how Native Americans got their beads, trading with Anglo settlers with fur & crops
    • Longest length is almost 26.5” long
